Karen Alladin Gittli

Owner · Acupuncturist · Herbalist

From the NIH to Louisville — a healer's path.

Karen has always been drawn to the complexity of the human body. She began her journey studying pre-med at the University of Virginia, before earning a Master's degree from Georgetown University in Physiology and Complementary and Alternative Medicine. It was there that she recognized holistic health care as her calling.

She went on to complete a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in the DC area, conducting research on cancer patients using complementary and alternative therapies. That work — sitting with patients for whom conventional medicine had reached its limits — deepened her commitment to integrative medicine and led her to pursue her Master's in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.

Karen co-founded Meridian in 2012 with her husband Robert. She specializes in women's health, autoimmune disease, pain management, and digestive disorders, and is a strong proponent of food as medicine. She believes there is a profound difference between healing the human body and healing the human being.

Outside the clinic, Karen is a certified yoga teacher (RYT 200 with Yoga Baum, Louisville) and has a love of aerial silks and circus arts. She is a Lifestyle Ambassador for Lululemon.
