Harmony With the Earth

Meridian strives for a healthier community and a healthier planet. Our floors are recycled vinyl, our walls insulated with recycled cotton, our herbs composted after cooking. Herbal formulas are prepared on a table of reclaimed oak from a Lexington barn. We choose post-consumer paper, soy-based ink, and natural cleaning products throughout. We believe respecting nature is essential to delivering premium health care.

Common Questions

Does acupuncture hurt? +
Acupuncture needles are incredibly fine — much thinner than the needles used for injections. Most patients describe the sensation as a subtle warmth, a slight heaviness, or a gentle tingling. Many patients fall asleep during treatment. If you ever feel discomfort, let your practitioner know immediately.
How long is a session? +
Each acupuncture session is 60 minutes. It begins with a detailed discussion of your health history, followed by pulse and tongue diagnosis, and then treatment. Your first visit may run slightly longer as we get to know you.
How many sessions will I need? +
It depends on your condition and goals. Acute issues may resolve in 3–6 sessions; chronic conditions often benefit from ongoing care. Your practitioner will discuss a personalized treatment plan at your first visit.
Do you accept insurance? +
We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to ask about acupuncture coverage. We can provide documentation to support out-of-network claims. Please call us at (502) 290-8788 to discuss your options.
What should I wear? +
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Acupuncture points are often located on the arms, legs, and back, so clothing that can be easily rolled up is helpful. We also provide draping for your comfort and privacy.
Do you offer herbal medicine consultations without acupuncture? +
Yes. Herbal consultations are available to patients who are not currently receiving acupuncture. With over 200 medicinals, we can create a personalized raw herb formula for your needs.
What is the difference between acupuncture and dry needling? +
Dry needling focuses on trigger points in muscles to relieve pain and is typically practiced by physical therapists and chiropractors. Acupuncture is a complete medical system rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that addresses the whole body through a network of meridians, using detailed diagnostic techniques including pulse and tongue examination.
